Low FODMAP Restaurants Manchester

low FODMAP restaurants Manchester whatthefod

I recently took a trip up to Manchester for a couple of days to visit my friend Holly (check out her blog also!) and I have to say, was absolutely blown away by how accommodating the restaurants were in catering for my dietary requirements. Manchester really is ahead of the trend and there is a huge amount of catering for Gluten-free – it’s such a fab city and I enjoyed some of the best low FODMAP meals I have had in a while. Below are my recommendations for low FODMAP restaurants Manchester…

Low FODMAP Restaurants Manchester:

The Laundrette in Chorlton

This is a really cute restaurant in a very pretty part of town. I’d highly recommend having a nice lunch and then going for a stroll around some of the cute boutique shops! The Laundrette does great gluten-free pizzas which I’ve tried before and they’re great. This time, we actually went for breakfast, where I chose the 6oz Minute Steak with Spiced Potatoes & Fried eggs. The steak was very tender (which you don’t sometimes get with minute steak) and the kitchen were kind enough to check the potato seasoning was free of onion and garlic! A great low FODMAP breakfast that set me up for the day.

Evelyn’s in the Northern Quarter

I have to say this was my favourite of the trip – not only is the place beautiful, but Evelyn’s its kitted out in gorgeous bronze accessories that make the place feel so welcoming – but the staff were amazing with me when I explained my low FODMAP requirements. They took the menu away to the kitchen and came back with the whole thing highlighted for me, not only did they show me what I could eat but they were kind enough to also show me suggestions as to how I could adapt choices that weren’t low FODMAP and make them FODMAP friendly, by replacing some of the bits I have an intolerance to.

I ended up having a starter and main which I don’t normally get to do, as the choice is often limited and too difficult so I normally just order a main – but I had to take advantage of the menu! To start, I had white fish ceviche with lemongrass and avocado (Note: I only ate 1/4 of the avocado to keep it in the low FODMAP range) and they removed the shallots from mine. My main a gorgeous was confit of duck served with potatoes, a fried egg, spinach and tomatoes – delicious. And since we had the day whole day off this was washed down with a glass of their New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, which I’d also really recommend!

Bagel Nash, Spinningfields

Bagel Nash has to be the first place I’ve found that offers a gluten-free alternative to a bagel which is amazing!! Its also really conveniently located in Spinningfields or the Arndale Centre so you can grab a quick bite whilst you are shopping or a great option for a work lunch. Even more great, is that you can build it with your on fillings, therefore guarantee it’s low FODMAP. If it’s breakfast, I’d suggest the scrambled egg and bacon. For lunch, there are tonnes of amazing fillings to choose from – smoked salmon and cream cheese or ham and cheese club or my absolute fave – hot salt beef with mustard and pickles.

Simone’s, The Arndale Centre

Finally to top it all off, dessert! You can find Simone’s cakes located in the Manchester Arndale food market. This place offer great gluten-free and vegan cakes if your are also looking to fully cut out dairy. I went for a spin on their gluten-free Jaffa cake, which was a gluten-free sponge and orange marmalade topping. I’d highly recommend giving it a go as it was moist and delicious.
